On both forms, what do I fill in for the visa status of my wife who accompanies me as I work overseas...there seems not to be an appropriate choice, so I have entered "dependent, accompanying husband"...is this ok?

Assume you are living and working in Thailand and your wife is a Thai, then the visa status of your wife appears to be a "citizen".

Actually we are simply waiting in Thailand. My question refers to the form fields that ask about other countries that she lived in. In all five cases she accompanied me and was dependent upon me.

I think they want to know the immigration status your wife was in that country (It might one of the below):
Citizen
Permanent resident
Visitor
Worker
Student
Other
Protected Person
Refugee Claimant
Foreign National

Hence my question. The only one I could see that fit was "other" and then I wrote in "dependent, accompanying husband"

So is that ok?

Yes, that's OK. What CIC wants to know if where your wife has lived ( because she will need to get Police Checks for each country if it was for more than 6 months), what was her status there (legal or illegal - in your case, legal ) and the reason why she was there. So accompanying husband is a good answer, it also shows that you guys spent lots of time living together (nature of relationship is a big issue for CIC). You could add what type of visa she was on, (visa allowed her to work or not ) if that's relevant in some countries.
Good luck,
