Hi all,
I am Dinesh. I am an Indian student planning to continue my studies in Canada (Sep 2015 intake).
Few Background Information about my situation
School
10th/SSLC (Matriculation syllabus) - 80%
12th/Higher Secondary Certificate - 91% (2002-2004)
After School i did a three year Diploma of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (First Class) (2004-2007)
Between 2007 and 2009 i worked as a bartender in couple of places including restaurant and a five star hotel. I have only got the job offer letters as proof and i don't have experience certificate.
In 2009 i went to australia to do Diploma of Hospitality operations. But the college i was enrolled in got closed without any notice so the Australian Government told me that they will put me into a new college as soon as possible. But it took them 6 months to tell me they cant place me into a new college and they will refund the money. So in 2010 i did a 3 month english course and started a new course Diploma of food science and technology.
Completed successfully by 2012. I got 2yrs work visa after that. I couldnt get a job in my field of study apart from a few casual hours from a laboratory and chocolate factory. So i worked in a supermarket chain until the end my visa period (Aug2014) and returned to India.
Now I am planning to continue my studies UG in Food science in Canada.I was hoping to get some transfer of credit for my Australian Diploma. I enquired about it in couple of consultancies In India
-one of them said that my study gap is too much and i am a bit old to pursue Bachelor Degree.
-Even if go for Advanced diploma chance of getting a visa is very slim.
I am currently working in chemistry lab in India where they test water and food products which is related to my field of study.
I recently took IELTS test overall score 8 with reading 9 listening 8.5 writing 7 speaking 7
i have close to 35000CAD that i have earned in Australia with proper tax returns and pay slips
My questions are
Will my study gap and Australian visit will pose a problem for my Canadian study permit?
Am i eligible for a bachelor degree?
If i go for a diploma related to my field (food science or chemistry) should i apply for study permit in SPP category or general Category?
Thanks for taking your time to read my lengthy story and i will forever grateful if you could offer me any suggestion.
