VISA online application vs paper application

I was just wondering whether online application takes more time as compared to paper application. Is it true? I applied on 28th October and no final decision yet whereas my friend applied on 5th November through vfs and got the visa with almost same profile as me. Anyone has answer.

I would say paper is faster but online requires less documents and in that way i feel online is safer. Also in online application, the VO remains in contact with us via MyCIC. And once we receive medical request or passport request, there are 99% chances that we will receive an Study Permit.

Well I'm referring to nearly all related posts from quite a while and the conclusion I could butter out is that the visa thing is so damm unpredictable. Er.manhas, a guy in the forum, with a great profile got refusal and few others got it with just an average profile and optimum funds. This is so freaking me out.

I got email form the VAC in abudabi says that they convince me to apply online rather then applying with paper application

A decision is made within 10 days for a paper application in most of the cases in India.

My wife and I submitted our application last three days online. She is going to study and I am going as a dependent for the open work program. What we did was, we attached all our supporting documents to the letter of explanation and made it as a pdf file. So far, I cannot tell if the paper application is much fast or the online application is faster. Another thing I would like to know is, has anyone applied like in our case and got their visa approved? Student and dependent spouse?
Let me know, and I will also keep you guys up to date on what ever our case will be. By the way, we already did our medicals.
