Dear all,

I am new to this group, although I have had a lot of help from all the excellent posts here.

I am a Canadian citizen residing in Hong Kong. I have been married with my wife, who is a Hong Kong citizen for over 14 years. We have 2 children, who have already got their Canadian citizenship certificates. Now I am trying to apply to sponsor my wife to become a PR and ultimately, a citizen.

Here are my questions:
1) From the "Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class" webpage, there is a Part 3 called "Information Guides". It says "Sponsored relatives must follow specific instructions depending on where they live. To find their region, use the list below." My understanding is that Sponsored relatives and Spouses are two different things. So, this "Visa Office Specific Instructions" does not apply to our case. Is that right?

2) Since my two children are already Canadian citizens, everything that asks about the dependants of my wife does not apply to my children, right?

Thanks for your help.

Wallace

Sponsored spouse visa office would be Hong Kong.

1. a spouse is a relative. so, you need to use the country specific guide for Hong Kong. this certainly does apply to spousal applications.

2. correct, if your children are canadian citizens, they are not listed as dependents in the application and they do not fill out application forms. they will be listed on your wife's additional family information form, and i'm sure mentioned at some point in the application if it refers to children somewhere (i'm not sure if it does).
