Hi

I am a mother of a son (19) who is planning to start a diploma level course in Toronto. I have a job here in my own company with my spouse and taking a holiday for a longer period is not difficult. I plan to stay for little more than six month if all to be good with my son from January 2020 onwards. I am from Sri Lanka.

I have following questions in mind and needs help to clear them.

(1) In the visa application it asks to upload a letter from a sponsor whom I don't have.
(2) I can bring about CAD 25,000 (apart from child's tuition fees) for myself and child's living expenses for this six months.
Also later the child's expenses for the rest of the period can be taken care of by my spouse.

Regards
Dil

If you are going as a tourist and not visit friends, you don't need a letter of invitation.

You can bring 25K but you need to declare it to Customs as allowed limit is only 10K.

Hi.thanks for your help and message. I will not carry 25K at once and just need an advise that amount is sufficient to convince the visa officers.

There is no guarantee that you would be allowed as a visitor to stay in Canada for 6 months. This could be especially true if only purpose of visit is to accompany a 19 year old student as opposed to tourism.
