Hi, as far as i think ur academic score is really good! This course you have selected is this an undergraduate diploma or a postgraduate one?
What is your IELTS score? Because ielts score is an important factor!

IELTS score is 7 with no less then 6.5. And the course is simple diploma. And not a PG diploma.

Hi Palak,
Your profile is quite strong. I would advise you to pursue Masters. A masters degree would always be beneficial for you as compared to diploma in the long run. With 8.23 cgpa, you can easily get into most of the universities. However, if you want to pursue diploma, then you must choose a post graduate one for better visa chances.

Also, there's a misunderstanding among student that Masters is quite expensive than diploma program which is wrong. I've had a good look at the tuition fees of most of universities and the fees is almost same. Infact, some of the universities like University of New Brunswick, Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of Saskatchewan, University of Manitoba, University of Alberta are even cheaper than most of the colleges.

Hey buddy that's a great information actually. But the thing is I don't find any two years PG diploma course in my field so I have decided to go for a diploma program. So I was asking if I would face visa problems. Can you suggest somehing

Well, you might face visa problems while opting for a diploma. The thing is, there is no logical progression in your studies if you opt for diploma after BE. However, to overcome this problem, you can explain your situation to the visa officer in your SOP(Statement of Purpose). Mention in your SOP why you want to make this switch and what benefits it would do to you in future. This might convince him/her.
Good Luck!

Completely support roohbir!

For your profile diploma is one step back in your career progression. Whilst colleges are ready to accept, getting a visa will be tough. You can always look at a coop MEng in any university you will easily get accepted. Yes the fees for a masters is lesser than diploma and you also have chances of getting scholarships and fees waiver doing a masters.

Thank guys for the replies. But can you suggest me universities that has lower fees and offers masters in my field I.e Civil Engineering? As I was going for diploma as the Masters fees was out of my budget

Hey, Pursuing a simple diploma will put the visa officer into some serious thinking, because it is not a progression of ur studies, its a step back so the visa officer might doubt your intention to study.

Ummm I guess yess you guys are right. But the only reason behind me going for only diploma is that I don't have any other PG Diploma course in my field for two years.

You can try University of New Brunswick. It's tution fees is one of the cheapest around $5-6000 per year. Here's the link:

you can also try University of Alberta. Yearly fess around $10k

University of Manitoba:

Memorial university of Newfoundland. Here tution fees is as low as 733$/sem.

Try applying in all these, you'll definitely get an offer letter. I'm pretty much sure that the'll charge you lesser than the colleges. Good Luck!
