Hi all

I'm hoping one of you experienced folk will be able to advise...

I am British, living in London and married to Canadian citizen (with a young son, who has dual British/Canadian citizenship). About 2 years ago, we applied to emigrate from London to Toronto, with my wife sponsoring me.

CIC tells me that my application was (finally) approved on 14 June :D, and that the 'control documents required to complete my landing in Canada' are in process...

What I want to know is, could there be any more hurdles that will need to be cleared before we're safe to make the jump and move to Canada? For example, could they still ask me to come in for an interview or anything like that, or does the fact that my application has been approved mean that they don't need anything else (other than a few forms and a permanent residency fee)?

Can anyone advise what other steps there are before I can call myself a permanent resident?

Many thanks in advance! :)

did they request the RPRF? if so, then all that's left is getting your COPR and you're good to go. while technically they *could* call an interview at any time, it is highly unlikely they would do that after they request the RPRF and advise they are finalizing your approval. Once they request the RPRF, that is the last step they need to issue the visa/COPR. I've never heard the term "control documents" before, though i'm assuming that just means visa/COPR issuance.

Wow - thanks for the insanely speedy response! Certainly it sounds like the 'control documents' are the COPR, although they haven't requested the RPRF yet which seems a little odd.

Do you know if the RPRF is normally requested by letter or email? I have immigration lawyers in Toronto representing me, who seem to get the odd email here and there if that would make any difference...?

from my experience, the RPRF comes at the same time as the Passport Request.

Thanks - and where does that normally come in relation to the COPR (or is the COPR the same as the passport request)? Apologies for my ignorance on this!

The RPRF and Passport Request (PPR) come before the COPR. these are needed to process the COPR. The COPR is the confirmation of permanent residence document you will use at your landing (and to get your SIN#, healthcare, driver's license, etc. prior to getting your PR card).

Ah, OK - so it sounds like the 'control documents' must actually be the RPRF and PPR... cool - thanks so much! :)
