Good day,

I recently applied for my visitors visa for both my daughter and myself and was denied.

First let me back track a bit. I have 2 siblings and 1 aunt who are all PR of Canada. I also have numerous relatives who also live in Canada. I visited Canada in 2007 with my mother and siblings in the summer, at the end of our trip we returned to my home country. In 2010 I visited again and was granted 6 months stay. That time I had applied for refugee claim because I was in an abusive relationship in my home country and i was scared for my life. While in Canada I learned that the person was no longer a threat, I did not go through with the claim and I left when my 6 months was up. While in Canada i got romantically involved with someone and it wasn't until i got back home i realized i was pregnant. The personal is not active in her life and refused to be apart of it. Long story short i got denied because they don't think i would leave Canada when I am supposed to, they claimed i dont travel enough and because they don't think I have enough assets. I think is bull because I've known people who have gotten accepted with less assets who hardly travel. I attached a letter explaining the situation surrounding my daughters father because I was not able to get a letter of consent from him.

The refugee claim is a big problem. It demonstrates you previously had an intent to remain in Canada long term. It's typically quite difficult to get a TRV approved with a history of having claimed refugee status in Canada.

The fact you have so many family members living here makes things even more complicated. This means your ties to Canada are very strong (another indicator you may have plans to remain long term) and means you have to work that much harder to show very strong ties to your home country and prove you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

What evidence did you show in your application to prove ties to your home country? How long a visit did you request? How much money did you show to support your trip?

Thanks so much for a speedy reply. I provided them with a letter with the firm I've been working with for the past 5 years along with all my bank balances at numerous institutions. Also, a letter from my daughters school.

Again - how long a trip did you request and how much did you show in funds to support your trip?

Did you show any property ownership? Any other ties?

Maybe IRCC has concerns that you intend to bring your daughter to meet her father in Canada = Stronger family ties to Canada (in addition to your many relatives) = Potential to overstay your visit

IMO, one strategy that might work:
You may want to consider applying only for yourself. Do not reapply for your daughter. She will be the family tie to return to your home country.

I'm still very young and don't have any property in my name. I'm also in school and assist my parents and siblings as i live with them. I've shown them savings totaling a couple k's as well as a credit card with a 5k limit.

I thought they might think that. But him and i are not in contact. In fact he has never met her and I don't even know if he is dead or alive. The purpose of the trip was a vacation for us both and she's been begging to visit Canada so she can meet and spend time with her cousins. It's a tricky situation. But honestly I love my job and I'm an aspiring Accountant with a lot going on for me career wise at the moment. My job letter even stated I am due a promotion soon, which is true.

Asking yet again - how long a trip did you request?
