I am sharing my parents experience at VFS Hyderabad office while giving their Biometrics.
On the biometrics submission day, my parents reached on time for biometrics and VFS staff verified documents and asked my parents to be seated in some waiting area.
When their turn came up to submit biometrics they were asked to pay Rupees 3,050/- each. My father questioned what is the fee for and they said it's COVID and it's mandatory to pay the fee to avail the passport drop off and pick up only through courier.
Please note that if it's mandatory to get courier service for passport pick up and drop the fee would be Rupees 1,098 (549+549). Instead, they straight away charged premium lounge fee.
My parents didn't use any of those lounge services and they paid the fee without knowing what they are charged for.
TL;DR
If you or your parents going for biometrics, be aware of fraud charges of premium lounge fee, pay only for courier service(if staff say it's mandatory because of COVID).
