Hello guys,

I am a Canadian Citizen, i sponsored my wife here in Montreal/Quebec and everything is fine and she already received her PR Card and she has been here for 2 3 months. Now my question is, I have a solid business opportunity In Vancouver B.C, Can my wife simply come with me and live in B.C as a temperament resident of Quebec????? IS there anything illegal about this ?

I read online as much as i could, and i learned that permanent residents of Canada can go live and work any place the wish regardless of the place of their landing, no one can force you to stay in one place! If this is true, and ANYONE HAS GONE THROUGH THE SAME EXPERIENCE PLEASE SHARE YOUR ADVICE AND TIPS , i would highly appreciate that . I know for sure that i would have to contact

I am just worried that moving to BC would affect her status and ( accumulated days for citizenship purposes) .

Please refer this.

Mobility Rights
Marginal note:Mobility of citizens

6. (1) Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.
Marginal note:Rights to move and gain livelihood

(2) Every citizen of Canada and every person who has the status of a permanent resident of Canada has the right

(a) to move to and take up residence in any province; and

(b) to pursue the gaining of a livelihood in any province.
Marginal note:Limitation

(3) The rights specified in subsection (2) are subject to

(a) any laws or practices of general application in force in a province other than those that discriminate among persons primarily on the basis of province of present or previous residence; and

(b) any laws providing for reasonable residency requirements as a qualification for the receipt of publicly provided social services.
Marginal note:Affirmative action programs

(4) Subsections (2) and (3) do not preclude any law, program or activity that has as its object the amelioration in a province of conditions of individuals in that province who are socially or economically disadvantaged if the rate of employment in that province is below the rate of employment in Canada.

IMO, your wife can accumulate the number of days present in Canada in any province; not necessarily in Qubec. There is nothing illegal about this.

She can live anywhere in Canada irrespective of her place of landing.PR is for whole Canada not just for a province/city.
I landed in Edmonton and after 2 months moved to Toronto. Now living in Toronto for last 4 years.
Only problem I had was with my health card.I got my Ontario health card only after 3 months. Its some thing like to get health insurance in one province we should live there for atleast 3 months.I am not sure about the exact reason.
They told I can use my Alberta health card till I get my Ontario health card

Not all provinces have a waiting period for Health Cards. Ontario does but Alberta doesn't and YES you can use your Alberta Health Card until your Ontario Health card arrives.
