Hi, Guys

Recently we are seeing that E-Cas is showing wrong information, may be because of they are switching from CAIPS to GCMS.

 CIC is in the process of rolling out a new case
processing system, Global Case Management System
(GCMS), which will be fully implemented by the end of
March 2011.
 The data deletion issue will not occur under GCMS.
 Missions will process new cases in GCMS and
complete processing of existing cases in CAIPS. It will
vary by mission how long it takes to move fully to
GCMS.
 CAIPS will be phased out after the full implementation
of GCMS

Also note:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob263.asp

The GCMS project started around 2000-2001 with a budget of about $200 million.

One interesting quote is:
As of November 10, 2010, approximately 4,000 GCMS and FOSS notes ... have been entered for clients linked to a large scale fraud investigation or to a suspicious address.

There are going to be a lot of really disappointed immigrants out there :o

Thanks a lot for starting this thread.

This is going to be very hot topic, as many of us have very minor or no knowledge of how this system works or will work.

- If someone has planned to apply for CAIPS in April, that applicant should try for GCMS instead of CAIPS?
- How can one apply for GCMS,
a. People residing in Canada may apply directly
b. But someone out-side Canada, would need to wait for professional agencies (sites) to update their site/business
- Any info when one/who can apply for GCMS?

In fact, I was planning to apply for CAIPS in March or April but now seems my focus getting diverted from CAIPS & not sure how & when can I go for GCMS.

Seniors/ Champs please shed some light on this.

Thanks folks. This will be a hot topic.

Well, the CIC itself started to uncover tens of fraud applications through data normalization and comparison. This also includes immigrants who became residents. Several residents have their residences revoked or being currently prosecuted for immigration fraud.

I assume the GCMS will add so many controls and analytical tools to make the immigration process for effective and better controlled.

Cheers

I have not seen a way to request GCMS notes - yet.

very good Thread.
CAIPS should be free, so is the GCMS.
Security in such large databases is the most vital thing.
$200 million for GCMS? isnt that amount exaggerated or over paid??
From Indian Sub continent or Far East, CIC could make that soft in 1/4 of that cost.

Well whatever GCMS is I really hope it "works" because CAIPS has been nothing but "CRAP"...

Roger

please share your Dismal experience with CAIPS, which service provider did you use?
I am gonna order mine in a couple of days.
