hi all,

so i'm planning to have my aunt apply for immigration here in canada. me, my sister or my mom could sponsor her but the thing is, the eligibility requirements are freaking confusing. my aunt is 53 years old.

1) brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship

2) Note: you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.

okay, so is Canada telling me that i can only sponsor (or someone could only immigrate to canada) my relatives if they're under 18 OR if i'm all alone in Canada nad they're my only relative in the whole world? this is what i'm taking away from this. wth...

I know you can sponsor anyone (temporary visa..) but for permanent residece you can only sponsor a wife, a husbund a child and a parent....no other relatives...

That's correct. You don't qualify to sponsor your aunt because you're not alone in Canada and she's not your only living relative in the world. Sorry.

Hi How i can know that effectly my application arrived to my country...
We received a letter about accepting my sponsor! but in the CIC page not info about if the application arrive or its in process...How was your?
Thanks

Sorry to say, but your mother can't sponsor her sister ie your aunt.

Given the above, your mom can't sponsor your aunt.

You can sponsor a sibling in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, through their Provincial Nominee Programs.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba age cut-off before any other criteria is 49 under the provincial nominee programs.
