Verification of PR status

Hi all, I am in Canada and PR card expired. I haven't fulfilled the 730 days requirement hence I can't renew the PR card. Can someone pls advise if I apply for verification of status to CIC will it be a problem for me. Will they will revoke my PR and asked me to leave ? I just need that document for some important work. Pls help
 
You can certainly apply for a verification of status document. Note that processing time is around 6 months - so you're going to be waiting a while.
 
A verification of status will document landing and becoming a PR. It will not, so far as I understand, certify validity of current status.

Original CoPR or Record of Landing will verify status, even if not current admissibility or validity. And this is the best I think one can have short of being issued a new PR card.

And my sense is that such an application may also risk the initiation of a Residency Examination. Extent of risk may be relative to extent to which the PR falls short of compliance with the PR Residency Obligation. If the PR is close to compliance, risk is probably low. If the PR has just returned to Canada after a very long absence and is way short of the PR RO, any application to IRCC or interaction with CBSA probably has a significant risk of triggering a Residency Examination / Residency Determination.
 
Thanks for the information , actually still the PR days for residency is too far, I am facing difficulty in getting the driving license renewed by ICBC ... As my PR card is expired .. I have a temporary license issued earlier however I have been told either to renew PR card and show the application confirmation email OR apply for PR verification ... I am more ok to apply for PR verification .. However concerned regarding that what if CIC asked me to leave ? I am planning to send a detailed letter mentioning everything what I can from my side so that they can read and take a call .. Any advise on this pls would be highly appreciated

CIC will most likely not act on you if you make a request for Verification of Status (VOS) because they will only be looking for the document that proves you ever became a PR (which can also be done by showing your record of landing or COPR). It seems someone has told you the VOS is valid to verify your status and in my personal experience not all government offices apply the same level of scrutiny, so you might get lucky with some of them.

Regarding your PR card, CIC will not do anything for you unless you make an application to renew your PR card. Of course, you have the option to wait until your RO is met again but it seems you are already having issues to work and get a DL or ID card, and that can definitely put a strain in your ability to remain in Canada. Also, not having a DL or being able to work or have a health card will make it more difficult to prove you were in Canada.
