Validity of TRV

Hi. I applied for a TRV and was given 3 years as opposed to the passport expiry date which is 5 years from now. What could have led to this?

TRV doesnt have go till end of passport, so this is normal.

Your profile. Remember they base your approval on your purpose, ties to home country (job, assets, family) and financial capability. On my 1st TRV application . IRCC only granted me single entry for 6 months. My succeeding applications were already multiple entry and a day before my passport's expiry.

Ohh okay I see, I thought it was standard, when I searched it said earlier of 10 years and date of passport expiry.

It says it may be issued for that long, not that it will.
