Hi my parents Super Visa got approved. However, when we got the stamped passports back, the expiry date is stamped 5 years from now although the biometrics and passport validity is about 10 years. May I know whether this is normal?

10 years is not guaranteed but 5 years is somewhat unusual. Could be something g new under the new immigration minister. There could be concerns so IRCC will assess their compliance with immigration rules and regulations during their first visit. If no issues people tend to get a longer visa period the next time they apply.

Thank you for your reply. The thing is this is not their first visit. They came here on Super Visa and left after one year without breaking any laws. Their Super Visa expired and hence we applied again and the new Super Visa got stamped only for 5 years.

You can certainly ask for reconsideration and see if they are awarded more time if they have plans on remaining in their home country for a while.
