Validity of OWP?

Hi,

I am planning to sponsor my spouse for PR (inland) and also planning to apply for an OWP. I myself am a PR here in Canada, I wanted to know what would be the validity of the OWP issued? Is it indefinite as based on the expiry of my PR card?

No - it's not indefinite and it's not based on your PR card. I believe it's issued for 1 year. If you need it for longer then you apply for an extension.

Also keep on mind owp won't come in couple of months atm. People that have applied February are still waiting.

My spouse is on a 2.5 year closed WP right now.

I just want to make sure that she can continue to work/ stay in the county if her spousal pr has not been been received by the time her wp expires.

This is why i wanted to apply for an owp as well so she hopefully has that visa to stay and work.
