Hello,

I am applying for a visitor visa to Canada from the United States. I am a citizen of India and am here in USA for my studies. I wanted to know if a multiple entry visa will be valid (before expiration date) if I go to India? There was some ambiguity in the language on the website.

Thanks

The visa for Canada is actually the stamp the CBSA officer places in your passport and can range in duration depending on the officer. You are actually applying for a TRV which allows you to travel to Canada and apply for entry.

It’s entirely up to IRCC what type of TRV they give you. It may be a single entry, limited duration visa (6 month), or a multiple entry short duration or long duration. It will all depend on the applicants travel history, funds, ties to home country, etc.

If you get a multi entry visa valid for the duration of your passport, it doesn’t matter when or if you use it. You can travel from the US or India or anywhere else. All the TRV does is allow you to travel to Canada on commercial transport (airline).

Thank you. That's helpful!
