Valid work permit but no TRV, Am I living legally in Canada?

Hi All

I am on work permit in Canada which got renewed last week. My TRV is also expired and currently my employer is not applying for the renewal as they think there is no use for now due to COVID-19 situation. My question is, am I living legally in Canada or I am an illegal resident now? For later, please share relevant doc which I can provide to my employer to let them know about the issue and also what are my other options?

If your work permit is valid you are good.

A TRV only gets you permission to get to the border point of entry. It isn't required to have a valid TRV to stay in Canada if you have a permit.
