Hi, I have valid Work permit till Dec 2021 and I had applied for TRV. However, IRCC mistakenly stamped my passport as Student TRV valid till my work permit date, instead of Worker TRV. I requested IRCC for correct stamping, but unfortunately, I had to travel to India due to family emergency. Now, they have sent me PPR, but VAC is currently closed in India. In case I cant stamp my Worker stamp on my PP, Can someone suggest if I can still travel back to Canada on valid Student TRV, once travel ban from India is revoked? My wife (who is on her own work permit) and daughter are still in Canada.
Has anyone travelled to Canada in similar situation?

canuck_in_uk has mentioned in two threads: A TRV is a TRV. As long as it is valid

Based on the references, any TRV must be valid if it not expired and Work Permit should be valid.

  • Foreign students and workers who applied for a visitor visa in Canada since July 2021 may get a V-1 visitor visa.
  • You can use your V-1 visa to leave and re-enter Canada – the same way you would use your S-1 or W-1 visa.

For post-graduation work permit applications submitted from within Canada, a TRV is not issued upon approval of the application. The applicant must submit a separate TRV application if their TRV has expired, and they would like to travel outside Canada and return.

If there is a pre-existing TRV (e.g., V-1 or B-1) valid for a period longer than the period of the study permit, it is not necessary to affix a second counterfoil to the passport with the coding S-1. Visas should be issued for multiple entries, and be valid for the same period as the study permit or the passport, whichever is shorter (unless otherwise specified in the IC 2 chapter).

I have valid Student TRV and valid PGWP. I need to travel as well.
Were you able to use the pre-existing student TRV with valid Work permit and return to Canada?
