Hi I need your expert opinion. My work permit will expire On May 2014... I am planning to go to Philippines on December and be back on January.. My question is will I still be accpeted to enter canada even if I only have 3 months left on my work permit prior to Expiration in May?

Yes, you will be as long as you have a valid visa. I went on vacation too a while ago, in March and my work permit was expiring July. I still got in no problem.

Good to hear that.. This applies to work permit holder too? Coz I'm not PR yet nor open permit holder.?

Yup. Just be sure to have all your documents ready ( passport with trv which is not expired, work permit, and letter from your employer ) upon entry in canada. Happy vacation...

Agreed! :)

I was still on closed work permit when I did this. And yes you will need a letter from employer allowing you to go on vacation, as well as when you get a an OEC (overseas employment certificate) at POEA.

Hello. My mom had already sent the requirements for travel doc to the CIC Manila so she can go here in the Philippines.
Second, our passport was already in CIC last May 8, 2013. My mom became PR last July 29,2013.
I just want to ask if the processing times for Travel Document Application and ISSUANCE OF VISA are also affected by the strike? Thanks!

Hi sis...

How about my partner's case
He is on student visa. He hols a study permit and work permit that will expire on january2014...
He will go home here in the philippines oct-november 2013...

Isnt that too close? Will he have any problem if visa expires in merely 2months?
We are afraid if we apply extension of his permit before he goes home that application will be affected by the strike...
Thanks sis

Doesn't matter if he only has two months left when he comes back as long as he has all the documents he needs. Valid Visa, letter from employer, valid permit. I remember back then I went for a vacation then went back my permit and visa was only valid for 3 more months and I didn't have a problem. Hope that helps.

My hubby is an open work permit holder and he will go back to the philippines this december. Trv and open work permit are valid until december 2014. What are the requirements in getting oec in phil? His new employer allowed him to take a vacation and im not sure if letter of employment/permission to take a vacation are sufficient? Thanks in advance.

Hi. Just go to owwa or any of its extension branch. You just have to fill up some forms and pay i think 100 pesos for an oec. Bring your pp , wp, and the letter.

Hi anthony1970. thank you for the quick response. God bless you. :)
