I will be laid off soon and I wanted to travel back home after that. To avail EI I have to apply before 4 weeks of layoff. Is it ok that I apply and leave the country? When my eligibility starts I can report in the very first one that I am out of country so they do not pay for the time i m outside. Also, i will be getting some severance so that may delay EI start by a month. In that case is it ok to apply right after layoff, leave the country and be back before EI actually starts. Anyone can shed some light on this situation? Thanks
