I am quite hesitant about using an agent or applying by self.
1. Can using an agent cause further delays in communication like request for documents etc. Also agents are costly, do they provide any benefits.
2. If the spouse or common law partner has completed an ielts academic exam, would it be advisable to send the ielts mark sheet as a supporting evidence for adaptability.
3. Now applicants are required to submit full documentation before applying. So does that increase the speed processing. what are the most important things to do to reduce delay in processing?
4. As a proof of funds we are required to show an amount of about 14000 dollars beforehand. Will a local bank statement suffice?
5. What additional documents the CIC office may request after the initial complete application has been filed. How long will it take to get the medical kit for exams after the initial filing.
6. Does having a relative in Canada get preferential processing?
7. As per the current rules a total of 20,000 immigrants can enter Canada 1000 per NOC at maximum. how do we know that this limit has been reached and what are the refund options for the initial application fee. Does the application be automatically be considered for the next year if the application cannot be processed in this year.
8. What are the chances of being called for an interview? I am applying from Nepal through the New Delhi high commission.

Yes lots of benefits especially for those with low english/french language skills, those who have no time to look at the rules and those with special cases. But for many, it is cheaper and easy enough to do it by themselves. Also with a consultant, one must find a good honest one.

I have never heard of anyone sending it but if the spouse has a great score, I would advice it because it adds strength to the application in a qualitative sort of way.

It should increase processing for those who make it on time but we won't really know that until some applications have gone through. The most important thing is to have your application and documentation ready for them.

Sure. Sometimes they ask for statements from like 6 months but any local bank is okay.

They may ask further explanation such as tax documents etc but these depends on individual cases and only if they have a doubt. As for medical timing, it is hard to say with the new process and it will depend on your visa office.

Nor preferential but it will give you points if you have certain types of relatives.

We don't know how they will announce if the 1000 or 20000 are up. For applications received after the limit is up, they should refund the fees. I don't think they carry it over to the follow year.

Depends on how they feel about your application. Being called for an interview is not a terrible thing. It just means that they want some explanation and giving you a chance than rejecting you. Of course, it is better to be accepted without interview. Again, being called for an interview is depended on individual cases and some offices may have greater number of interviews per application because there are greater fraud among some countries than others. Also in some countries, it may be easier for CIC to verify documents, etc.
