HI @Simba112

I have a Canadian RTD and still waiting to be granted PR but I have a job offer in the USA will l be able to get a work visa in the US?
I thought “zulubia” mentioned about abusing US visa and cross illegal to Canada. I want to believe, abused means overstay.. if that is the case then they will raise this during interview

Hello, when I was in the US with a visitor visa in 2019, I crossed the illegal border to Canada to seek asylum. My refugee claim was accepted and now I have a refugee travel document. I really want to visit my friends in the US again but I am scared to apply for visa since I abused my first visa and left the country illegally.
I was wondering if there is anyone with the same experience as mine and applied for visa?
Hi, i am wondering if you were issued the visa? How did the interview go? I have a friend in the same situation and is very nervous.

Pretty unlikely to be granted because you have minimal ties to your home country and would permanently close pathways to Canadian citizenship and PR for most so incredibly risky unless you are happy to return to your home country.

What are you talking about? I asked a question specific to Zulubia post.

Unless a recent decision under the current administration would be pointless to compare. Under Biden there was mixed outcomes and was also dependent on previous immigration history and ties to Canada.

I just got my rejection for US visa on RTD, had a group appointment of family of four, officer asked 2 questions and said interview is over. I previously had a US visa never violated the terms, visited US two times , one in 2016 for 1 month and another in 2021 for 2 months. We 4 family members are permanent resident of Canada, I also bought a house last year, and we had a UK visit visa issued 3 months ago and I travelled to UK and Italy on my RTD.
Reason that he gave me is the same everyone gets that I don't have strong ties to Canada. Although, I told him about my job and school and family occupations had all the documents with me, but I guess he made up mind 10 mins before interview. I believe trump administration is working hard to grab our visa money and also now they have introduced the visa integrity fee of USD 250.

I hope you all get visa, because at appointment section there were good visa officers also, but we got unlucky and now will not be able to attend a wedding. For me it is not a big deal and not gonna apply again because I am gonna get Canadian Passport in a year or so, but feeling sad because I thought having a PR, job, school and home is very strong case plus also been to USA before.

Nope, we had a anchor relative crossed border through Fort Erie and also emailed US customs and border about leaving United States prior to CBSA appointment. The visa officer didn't believe us that we will come back to Canada, he thought we gonna take asylum in US.

Your improper use of your US visitor visa could be the issue. I assume you did not declare your intent to claim asylum in Canada when you landed in the US and declared other intention like tourism.
