Hi,

If you're transiting through the US/if you need to change airports in the US then you'll need a C-1 visa..... this applies even to babies transiting through the US.

The paperwork and processing times can vary a lot (even scheduling a visa appointment could take months). If you plan to stay in the US for even a day then you should apply for a B1/B2 visa.

Considering the paperwork and processing time, it would be best to apply for a B1/B2 visa instead of a C-1 transit visa.... or else completely avoid transiting through the US

Cheers :)

hi thanks for the reply. I don't want to stay or visit the US, I just want transit from US to third countries because flights are real cheaper from the US than Canada. Please advise what kind of questions do they ask and is it easy for a Canadian pr to grab this visa thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

A C-1 transit visa is not issued on the spot/on transiting through the US.

You must apply for a C-1 transit visa at the nearest US embassy or consulate in advance. The application procedure will depend on the country you're applying from. You must prove you are only transiting.... and have visas (for the end destination), flight tickets, adequate finances for the transit, etc

It's better to apply for a B1/B2 visa instead..... or else avoid transiting through the US although flights are cheaper because C-1 refusals are also possible

Cheers

Your chances of success for a transit visa or any other non immigrant visa depend on you convincing the US consular officer that you will leave the US. This primarily depends on your socio-economic ties to your home or third county that you will return to. if you have a good job, property, savings, children/spouse etc then your odds of success are better since historically such applicants comply with their visa conditions compared to say if are unemployed and have 100 bucks in the bank. Your PR status is on it own not a guarantee it just means you have the right of residence in Canada. All you can do is apply and hope for the best but as other have said apply for a B1/B2 combo which can be used for transit as well for other visits.
