Hello,

We recently moved form US to Canada. I plan on sponsoring my parents under the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship program.
I haven't filed any Canadian tax returns yet (we moved mid last year), but have past 10 years of US tax returns.
As a proof of income for this sponsorship, can I show US tax returns instead of Canadian tax returns?

Thank you!

Others can comment as well but my personal interpretation of the guidelines are that in showing the requisite tax returns it indicates that a sponsor is firmly established in Canada particularly relevant if a recently arrived PR. Else if this were an option people would land and apply immediately showing a tax return from any home country not just the US.

As said this is only my view.

You need 3 years of NOA (Notice of Assessment) after you filed your Canadian tax return.
So US tax return won't work.

Unfortunately you don't qualify. Canada an the US are different countries. Your US tax returns would have the same effect as submitting your home country tax returns. You will qualify in 2-3 years depending on you 2018 income in Canada.
