US PCC past 6 months

Hi, I have a FBI PCC dated 6/10/2016 which I obtained in preparation for an ITA. I didn't receive my next ITA until January 2017 but I thought the PCC was valid for at least a year. I now only have a little over a month before I have to submit all my documentation and not enough time to obtain a new PCC. I'm planning to mention in an explanation letter that I obtained the PCC in anticipation of an ITA but didnt receive the ITA until the 6 month mark of my PCC (which would not give me enough time to obtain another one anyways as processing is 12-14 weeks) and will obtain another one if necessary. What are your opinions on this? Thanks in advance for the help.

Do you currently live in the US? If you do, then your PCC is valid for 6 months.

If you live outside the US and you have never visited the US after that then the PCC is valid indefinitely or until your next visit to the US.

CIC is very particular about valid PCCs

If you meant 6th October and you submit everything before 6th April, you are good to go else you would need a new one.

I'm confused cos people in USA write the month first and then the date unlike the rest of the world.

Sorry, should've clarified. It's June 10th 2016 but written as 06-10-2016 on the document

You need a new one then.

Your application will be instantly rejected if you use that one.

CIC will reject your application. You got an ITA in Jan and by the your PCC was expired / almost expiring. I would recommend you reorder a PCC immediately. I dont know if declining the ITA would be a good idea cos CIC is quite unpredictable and nobody knows when they would have the next draw.

Then again, declining and waiting is better than a rejection.

thanks for the advice, just need to go bang my head on the desk for a bit since I prepared all the documents early to be prepared and then it took so long to receive an ITA that they're expiring on me one by one.

I know what you mean. I got my PCCs in November so I have time until May. I have everything ready accept the ITA. I entered the pool over the weekend and was expecting an ITA yesterday but now no sign of it for 3 weeks. I didnt know that WES would take ages and there would be no draw for so long. Welcome back into the pool. Hope you get your PCC and ITA soon.

I entered the pool on Saturday (18th March). I am expecting an ITA in the next draw.
