urgent! should my wife change her surname on her international passport to mine

Good day house, please need your advice on this situation.my wife has a valid international passport that will expire in 2019 with her maiden name. just about to start the express entry application but i'm the principal applicant. our marriage certificate is intact, got married last year December. can she use her current international passport with her maiden name or we should apply for a new one. we are both Nigerians and living in Lagos, just want to know experiences of my seniors in this forum. getting a new international passport for her is cumbersome here.thinking, we can always back up any documentation with the marriage certificate.
