I think I did something stupid - I submitted the application to change my status from worker to visitor prior to the expiry of my work permit, which was actually the recommended action on the CIC website to submit such application at least 30 days in advance.

Is it possible to request to reverse this change of status?

Please help ??? ??? ??? thank you all in advance!

Withdraw your application. As simple as that.

I don't think there can be anything done here now, as you cannot change it back to work permit unless you have LMIA.

I would agree. Now that it has been approved, I dont think you can undo it. Would have been possible before approval.

It does not invalidate your existing work permit though. There are very limited circumstances under which an existing permit is cancelled. Getting a new one is not among them.

In this case, what is my current status?

As long as your current work permit is valid, you should still be able to work and after that you should be on your approved visitor status.

If I receive an invitation to apply under Express Entry at this point, am I allowed to apply for a bridge of work permit?

Check here to see if you qualify for BOWP:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/prov/bridging.asp

Since it says that your profile has to be fully submitted and must have passed R10 completeness check and your work permit has to still be valid, I am not sure you can get to that stage before your current work permit expires.

How long is your work permit valid for?

That is slightly incorrect in the sense that since Feb 2016, you can submit a BOWP application right after submitting a PR application.

It will be evaluated once R10 is through, but applicant does not have to have a valid work permit till R10 ok.

The above referred link also describes it under the heading

"Express Entry: determining if an e-APR has passed the completeness check"

But I agree that it is not as clear in this particular text. However, CIC also issued a bulletin back in Feb to make this crystal clear.

Following is one reference.

http://www.dalelessmann.com/news/blog/bridging-open-work-permit-applications-can-be-submitted-faster

A little search would reveal the official CIC bulletin too.

So the OP is good to submit his PR application and subsequently apply for BOWP. The only condition is that his WP has to be valid when he files his PR and then BOWP. Then until R10 okay and subsequent BOWP approval, he would be on implied status.
