Ok so I've been browsing post on individuals that could not include marriage certificate with application. They included a cover letter explaining the absence of document etc.Apparently they sent it in afterwards and had no issues! Maybe we have some hope after all? Also read that you don't have to submit police clearance until they ask for them? I'm not sure if it's the same for medical though... In any case the marriage certificate dilemma seems to be ok now... Also in proving our relationship. We have no phone or computer records. We have Facebook posts, pictures of our relationship ( some taken in UK others taken here in Canada. Mainly pics of us together and with my family. Hope these will suffice?

Re: Marriage certificate
Yes, that's fine, it's quite common. Just include a letter stating you're waiting to receive the proper one and will forward it once you get it.

Re: Police certificate
No, do not wait until it's requested. You risk sending an incomplete application and having it returned, which is far worse. Do your police checks and send a complete package. Make sure all your police certificates are in date.

Re: Medical
Same as above. It is expected for you to do it in advance, that's why it's on the checklist. Do not send an incomplete application.

Re: Phone/computer records
Include what you have. For Facebook, though, don't print out the whole damn thing - use common sense. Print a selection of screenshots that lapse your relationship, maybe one a month or something like that. Explain that for brevity and simplicity you have just included one screenshot per month to demonstrate ongoing communication; if they wish to see more detail you can happily provide it. Including hundreds of pages means CIC may just find it overwhelming and too difficult to sort though and will just send your application back and tell you to pare it down to something manageable. Use common sense. Include enough to make your point without overwhelming or swamping them.

Re: Pictures
YOu have to include this anyway. Your photos should read like a photo essay of sorts. They should span your entire relationship. I suggest printing them in MS Word or something and writing 1-2 sentences as a caption for each set of pictures. You don't need 5000 of the same thing - one or two pics from various events etc over the course of your relationship will do it. Aim for about 40-50 pics total. The photos should reflect the story of your relationship. Where you can, include pictures with friends and family. If you are including photos from trips you took together, then try to make sure the pics are obvious that you're in whatever location.

There is a FAQ for British applicants linked in my signature, aimed at outland applications. You will find it useful, I suggest having it open when you are working on your application. (Even if you apply inland, a lot of the forms are similar, so it's still helpful.)

Hope that helps.

Thanks schnook, any help or advise is much appreciated especially in these circumstances. I could submit an incomplete pr application with letters explaining why certain documents are missing or I could just submit second extension asking for more time to gather all documents in order to submit full pr application. So we could ask for another 6 months? I'm pretty sure we will be ready to submit everything by July. Maybe we could state that as well?In saying that we have a medical booked for May 6th. I'm not sure how to go about police clearance in UK. Do we order it online? Also in proving genuineness of relationship. We don't take pics frequently. We are not FB or selfie fanatics. We just mainly use social networking to keep in touch with friends and family. We are very private. So as far as pics go. We don't have an extreme amount. Maybe a little over 100 spanning our relationship. No texts because we don't own cell phones.we owned cell phones for a very short period of time. No PC logs due to hard drive crash on my end. I'm not sure how to prove our love any more than we possibly can...

Do not send an incomplete application with the exception of the marriage certificate. You risk having it sent back, which means then that you have to get new police checks and all the rest of that.

The rest of your questions are mostly answered in the FAQ. Please read that first, then come back if anything still isn't clear. :)

Ok so it's official... We need more time to submit PR. In saying this the only proof of applying would be the receipts as of now. Hopefully we receive our marriage certificate very soon so we can submit that as well we decided to just send off the second extension asking for more time. In fact giving them an exact time definitely by July for submitting full PR... Is this possible and is there anything else I could state or convince Cic to allow another extension. I'm so afraid they won't allow it but it's worth I try

Pay the fees anyway then include that as proof when you ask for the extension.

Would it be advisable to include receipts for wedding expenses as well with this extension. Also do you think they will be more obliging if we explain that we are very recently married and will submit PR application within a few months? As it's going to take that long for medical and police certificate... Not to mention we also need photos from our upcoming honeymoon as well.

Update! We have our marriage certificate! :) so we are going to apply for second extension and explain to cic that we will submit pr application within a couple months because we need the last of required documents. We have Medical booked for end of month and will order police clearance soon after. Should this be enough to extend my husbands stay again. Any other additional information will be appreciated! Thanks

Apply for an extension, in your paperwork or an additional document, mention that you are applying for PR and are just waiting for X, Y and Z.

As others have done, I would strongly recommend you apply Outland. With the processing times in the UK, there is a possibility that you may be sent to CPC-O or held over at CPC-M (4 months for some people TOTAL processing time). I have seen two people who have Decision MAde for their PR app (One Japanese) from February who have been processed through CPC-M.

Trust everyone here, apply Outland, you will just have to maintain status within Canada.

+1 for applying outland. Two people in this past week have had their full applications approved in 48 and 55 days. There are 5 others from 2015 who have also had applications approved already, the longest being 105 days. All this info is in the spreadsheet in my signature. Even those whose applications have gone to London are averaging about 10-11 months total, which is well faster than inland.

If you do decide to apply outland, make sure you use the right set of forms as they are not identical to the inland set.

Hi ok so we are applying for extension asking for extra time in order to submit full pr application. We are currently waiting on appointment for medical and police certificate. How long should we ask for for the extension. My husband already got extended 6 months so would asking for another be ok? Also I need to confirm about his status expiry date which is the 13th of May. Cutting too close ! I know:( is it extremely important that we send before expiry( courier) or does it have to be in vegreville by expiry. I'm confused with this once again lol in any case my husband does not want to lose status .,, thanks everyone

To be on the safe side, you should make sure that it is delivered by May 12th.

If you can pay the PR fees now, including a copy of the receipt should help with the extension request, in which case I'd ask for 1 year.
