Hi,

I applied online, general not SDS, on 02/21 (Friday), but my application was approved today and I got a passport request, on 02/24 (Monday). Also, Feb 21 and 22 are weekends, and I guess it wouldn't count towards my application processing time. My country processing time posted on CIC is 4 weeks.

Even though I was delighted when I got the passport request, I wonder if this is some kind of mistake?

Thanks.

Timelines are just estimates.
Submit your passport and see what happens.

You got the visa...just submit your passport for stamping...I have seen cases where students got their visa in just one day

Hi Thanks!

I just realized that my passport will expire in 2022, but my studies may last till 2024. I can't get renew my passport since it's still valid for 2 years. Would this be ok since in the passport request, it said "Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada"?

Your student visa will be issued for the length of your passport. You will need to apply to extend the visa later when you get a new visa.

So now I can just submit my passport and have the visa stamped. But should I get a new passport before coming to Canada getting the study permit?
