Hi All,

I have questions related to the calculation of the working experience in the Express Entry program. It's a bit tricky to me because it's about a combination of my part-time and full-time hours.

I have been working in a company started as a part-time Administrative Assistant (class B) from Jan 2018 to March 2019, and then promoted to a managerial position in full-time from Mar 2019 till now (this is my current position).

During my part-time period (Jan 2018-Mar 2019), I had worked 1,250 hours, to be specific, those are not fixed hours per week, the hours was ranged from 18hrs -26hrs per week.
In addition, for my full-time period in the company (Mar 2019-now, Mar 2020), I have got 53 weeks which is just over a year.

All in all, so far the work time I have had is: 1,250 part-time hours + 53 weeks full-time hours

My questions are about my 1,250 part-time hours:
1. Can I take the 1,250 hrs into account since this is lower than 1560 hrs?
2. If these hours ARE accountable and acceptable to contribute, then how the 1,250 hours can be calculate into my work history, should I just use 1,250 hrs/30 hrs=41 weeks?
3. In order to make these 1,250 hours be "one year part-time hours" , what should I do? would it be doable to work 11 (52 hrs-41 hrs) more hours on my current full-time position from now on?
Sorry guys I made a silly mistake in my original post last night, just realized it from the first very kind response. I meant weeks not hours. the Amended second part of question 3 should be :
Would it be doable to work 11 more weeks (52 weeks-41 weeks) on my current full-time position from now on?

Please advise me the best way to do with my case above.
Thank you very much!

1. Yes - you can take them into account.
2. Yes - you would calculate the number of weeks by taking 1,250 and dividing by 30.
4. No - you cannot work 52 - 41 hours per week to make up this time. Any week where you work 30 hours or more is only counted as 1 week of work experience. It doesn't matter if you work 30 hours or 60 hours or 90 hours. It's still only one week. So if you have 53 full time work weeks right now and 41 weeks made up of part time experience, then you need another 10 weeks where you work 30 hours or more to have 2 years of work experience. You can't work 60 hours and count this as 2 weeks - and you also cannot take the extra 30 hours week and add them to the 1, 250 part time hours. So short answer is that you need another 10 weeks of full time work.

Thank you very much for your very helpful response Scylla, and I'm sorry I just realized that I made a mistake in the third question. I actually meant 11 weeks but accidently wrote down "hours". My apologies for this confusion.
Now I have finally understood the calculation from your answer, only 10 more weeks to go yeyyyyy:D

Thanks again for your help!!!

Please clarify my understanding.
In short one has to work for 52 weeks in last 3 years full time and then it will be considered as 1560 hours.
Imagine I am working for 40 hours every week then I need only 39 weeks to achieve 1560 hours but this will not be considered as one year experience. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

You need to work full 52 weeks and 30 hrs per week. No hour above 30 is counted.

Hi , scylla

i will really appreciate if you can clear my doubts.

So following is my work history:
Home country :

Retail Sales Supervisor Jan 2014 - April 2015 (16 months) Full time NOC B

In Canada:
under single employer:
Retail Sales Supervisor Mar 2019 - July 2020 (16 months part time equivalent to 8 months Full time) NOC B
Computer H/W S/W technician AUG 2020 - Present Full time (current promoted position) NOC B

from Aug 2020 i was promoted as computer hardware/software installation technician(NOC 2282) B

can be combined 1.6 years full time experience (NOC B) + 16 months(NOC B) of part time experienced to be consider as 2 years of full time experience under FSW Express Entry? even both NOC B experiences are from different employers?

i will be really appreciate if you can clear my doubts.
