Hi there,
I do need a help.
I'm in Canada and my status is a visitor now, but I found some job in a restaurant and get a LMO, so I do need now to apply for work permit. I will send my application in LA. Is there anyone who knows which one embassy in USA is faster. I also have USA visa, if they call me for interview.
Some agent told me I need a lot of proofs from my country, because my husband there, and because I'm engineer, etc.. So, he said, they need some proofs that I will come back, after one year, in my country (contract is 1 year), they also need some proofs that I am married... I also don't have evidence that I meet the requirements of the job.
If anybody had same or similar situation, please help/advice me... what kind of papers/documents are enough and what about translation and certified copies or notarized documents?

Thank you.

If you have an LMO and an offer letter, you can apply at a Port of Entry. See http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/twfp-ptet/twfp-ptet-eng.html.

If you are in Canada, you can also apply online. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp for the information about doing this via mail or online.

Processing time for applications is currently posted at 12 days for online applications and 16 days for written applications (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp).

Since you are already in Canada, there is no reason to apply via a visa office (which definitely takes longer).

Good luck!

Do you have some advice? Please and thank you.

I do need to apply before March 27th. I have some documents on my language but I need to translate them on English. Do you know what kind of additional documents are helpful? Certificate of marriage, some statement of marriage, some proof that my husband works or...

You'll have to apply at a visa office/consulate outside Canada for your WP, the US being the closest. You have to maintain status in Canada, while waiting for the approval of your WP or as you have a US visa, exit and apply from the US. See the checklist on what documents need to be attached with your application,
