As a protected person in Ontario, I was trying to apply for a study permit but I was asked to fill form IMM5709 and upload Provincial attestation letter. I feel stuck in the application process because I learnt that IMM 5709 = “Extend or change conditions as a STUDENT.” what do I need to do please?
Can anyone guide me on how to apply for the study permit?

I could share my experience applying for study permit extensions as a refugee claimant. That said, could you please clarify your questions? If you're OK with it, could you provide follow up information (without including personal details) to provide some context?

- Are you applying to get a study permit for the first time?
- What kind of programme are you enrolling in? Diploma/Bachelor's/Masters or PhD etc?
- Did you receive a letter of acceptance? If yes, then some educational institutions have immigration consulting offices that could directly help and guide you through the process (even if you've just accepted your offer of admission)

I applied for a graduate certificate program at Humber Polytechnic. It's my 1st time applying for a study permit and yes I got an acceptance letter

Ok so I did a quick Google search and came across this link from Hunber that guides you through study permit application, starting with answering the questionnaire: https://humber.ca/international/admissions-financial-aid/permits-visas/study-permits#-2588564847

It seems like Humber has International Student Advisors and Immigration Specialists. I would suggest submitting a contact form to Humber using this link: https://humber.ca/international/contact
You could add a note to request to meet or ask for an email address to direct your questions to.

I think it would be best to consult with them first. From my experience, immigration consulting services at my university have helped me fill out forms and even reviewed my application before submission. It might be different at Humber, but it wouldn't hurt to check first.
