Urgent help on TRV or Application to Change Conditions

Dear Friends,
I am in a big confusion. I have applied for PR under Family Sponsorship (Inland SCLP) as my spouse is a Canadian Citizen. When we got married, I was on a visitor visa. I hold my OWP while my application for PR is under process. As I am not from a visa exempt country, I must have a visitor visa if I intend to exit and re-enter Canada. My visitor visa would expire in a few days and hence I must obtain a new visitor visa if I want to exit and re-enter into Canada. Could anybody advise which application should I make?

As per my research, I should be applying for an INLAND TRV whereas my consultant told me that is incorrect and I should apply for APPLICATION TO CHANGE CONDITIONS & EXTEND MY STAY AS A VISITOR. As we all know Application to change conditions has a processing time of 3-4 months on average whereas Inland TRV applications are processed within two weeks. Could anyone advise what is the best way to get a new visitor visa (inland).

I would highly appreciate your responses.

Thank you so much. I just checked this tool and considering my answers I have been told:

"Visitors (in Canada) - You may be eligible to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor / tourist"

That would be to extend my stay, but not to get a new visa. My visa is expiring in a few days. Extending the stay would allow me to remain in Canada which is not a problem as I have an Open Work Permit and Permanent Residence application under process.

I need a new visa to exit and re-enter.

You are not answering the tool correctly. When you do the TRV option will be available.

Sir I tried doing it several times. Every time I get the answer you may be eligible to extend your stay. This could be because the computer doesn't account for the hypothetical situation that is "to exit and re-enter the country"

You are not answering correctly, if done correctly the option will appear. This has been done several time through the years, your situtation is most common.

Thank you Jalex. You are right. I even read it on CIC website today that an INLAND TRV (Visitor Visa) Application can be made if the individual was legally admitted as a worker or a student in Canada.

As I am filling my application, I can see there are two checklists. on CIC website under "This application package is for applicants in Canada"
Document Checklist [IMM 5484] (PDF, 319.47 KB) December 2013
Document Checklist – Applicants in Canada [IMM 5721] (PDF, 209.14 KB)

Which one is the correct one? The applicants in Canada checklist IMM 5721 requires Family Information Form IMM 5645 which is not in the list of documents in Application Package. Instead there is IMM 5707 :/

Please use the tool for the correct checklist: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp

Once answered correctly irrelevant forms will no longer be there.

I got the relevant documents but it still gives me two checklists out of which one is called Document Checklist - Applicants in Canada IMM 5721
and other is called Document Checklist IMM 5484. Both have slightly different requirements. One problem that I am unable to resolve is IMM 5721 requires completion of form IMM 5645 which is not anywhere in the list, and instead there is IMM 5707 in the package.

I am thinking about completing both checklists and put both in the application. Would that be a good idea?

You are not using the tool. When the tool is used correctly it renders only one checklist.

You are trying to do the application manually. For this effect we cannot help you are the one who knows what is relevant to your case.

Most likely not. CIC expects a solid application not guesses on all possible scenarios.

One more thing. My old passport has about 20 days left till it expires. It also has a valid visitor visa that expires with the passport. Am I supposed to attach the old passport with my new passport when I send this TRV application? Just in case the Officer wants to have a look at the old passport or the visa.

Hi.This is old topic .. But I have exactly same question. I have old passport with IEC visa which is going to expire soon. And a new passport.
Do I send copies of both? I'm applying TRV by mail, because mycic site doesn't give me right form which to use when apply in Canada TRV.

And there is two Checklists; IMM5484 and IMM5721 - second is for Applicants in Canada, so I use only it? Not the first one?
