Hi all,

My study permit expired on 09/30 this year and I know I have 90 days to apply for the extension after it expired, but was unable to do that due to medical reason. I need an letter of enrollment for it but I didn't know my university already closed today, earlier than I expected and I have no access to my registrar for the letter. The registrar reopens on Jan 2nd, 2018 and I'd be able to get an letter on that day.

Is there anyway to buy me a few days so that I can wait in Canada, get to the reopened registrar and ready the letter for application? Should I call CIC and explain? Find a lawyer and ask for professional advice?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your understanding of the rules is incorrect. You do not have 90 days after the expiry to apply for an extension. You have 90 days to apply for restoration after the study permit expires.

No - there is no way for you to buy a few extra days. You have 90 days. If you fail to apply for restoration within the 90 days, it will be too late to restore your status from within Canada and you will have no choice but to leave.

Hopefully you have not been studying or working since your study permit expired on 9/30.
