Hello,
I'm in a bit of a predicament, and would really appreciate some help. I couldn't find a comprehensive source on this situation.
I did not live in Canada after receiving permanent resident status. I understand that PR status "expires" after 5 years of not living in Canada, but requires a formal process of renouncing PR status. My concern is not much about the process of renouncing PR status, but rather tax issues. We did not pay taxes while we were living abroad, and I am worried that this will come up during the process of renouncing PR status and subsequent application for traveller's visa. Can anyone help me with this? Will this be an issue if I go through this process?
