Dear Friends,

This is Kovur from Brampton.
I am back to this forum after 4 months of landing in Brampton/Canada.

Group of friends and I looking for ways to find the actual job in Supply Chain or associated fields
like buyer/procurement and inventory management/analyst/etc., in Ontario or across Canada.

What we have done so far are listed below: :D

> we have completed a Supply Chain bridging program,
> modifying resumes as suggested by the professionals/mentors,
> got connected with professionals through LinkedIn,
> attended one of the networking/job fair events organised by SCAMO,
> applying for jobs found through job bank/indeed/eluta/linkedin/etc.,
> approached exclusive recruiters intended for supply chain professionals,

What we don't understand is that, we don't hear from the recruiters. WHY?

We are also aware that 80% of recruiting is done through networking.

We would like to know whether we are making any wrong strategies or are
we spending time, energy, and money to head towards abyss?

PLEASE help us to move forward by sharing your experiences, strategies used,
providing right leads, any other comments or suggestions most welcome.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Kovurs.

Hi Kovurs,

Goof to read your post.
I landed in Brampton on 17 march. I'm actively looking for jobs in Supply Chain Management and logistics too.

Could you please elaborate on the Supply Chain bridging program and the SCAMO job fair? Are you considering of enrolling in short term certification for Supply chain/Procurement ?

Hi flangepoint,

Good that you are here in this blog.

>>>

I would rather talk about co-op program than the bridging program. As the former could help you better than the latter (this is my opinion).
Please go to Brian J Flemming Adult Learning Center in Mississauga/ Closer to Port Credit or similar agencies who offers co-op like Newcomers center of Peel.

The one we attended was a bridging program at Acces Employment and more info can be found in their website (see below).
http://www.accestrain.com/index.php/supply-chain-connections

Bridging program enables internationally-trained professionals to find work in their field that reflects their past experience.
Its good program but no co-op. Both of these programs starts on a particular date but one must register your place well before the time.

>>>

SCMAO (sorry for misspelling in my earlier post) is SCMAO and its partners constitute the leading professional association in the country for supply chain management professionals. SCMAO supports a growing global SCM community of more than 3,000 active members and program participants in Ontario, delivering supply chain management training and professional development programs to meet their lifelong learning goals and advance their careers. SCMAO offers an extensive range of SCM educational offerings, including the Certified Supply Chain Management Program (CSCMP) leading to the CSCMP designation. As supply chain management professionals, CSCMPs strategically manage the flow of goods, services and knowledge to help organizations maintain a long-term competitive advantage. SCMAO is responsible for the accreditation and continuing professional development of CSCMPs.

>>>

Job fair is an one of the organized events by SCMAO. Its like a job fair where you meet potential employers with your updated Resumes.

>>>

I will be taking up / enrolling into the program once I get the job.

Any more questions please let me know. I will be of help where ever I can.

Cheers.

Hi Kovurs,
I'm also a supply chain/procurement professional about to land in Toronto in one month. Having gone through the steps you've already taken, I found them quite similar to the ones I meant to pursue when I get there and start seeking employment. It's a bit disheartening to find out none had worked to your advantage yet :( Have you had any interviews so far?

Hi Sarah1791,

Don't get disheartened. Everyone has got their own pros and cons. Who knows you might get a job fairly quick than me/us.
But be prepared for anything - that would be my word of caution.

All you might need to do is to assess yourself to find strong skills and what you will bring onto the employer's table than others.
Plus networking is utmost important. At this point, I would suggest you google / focus on

By the by, did you attend CIIP? If yes, could you please share your roadmap?

Hi there,

Found an old but very useful link explaining about co-op.
