Hello all
My mom has a valid multiple entry visitor visa to Canada since 2018.
Never used it and planning to enter Canada for the first time in October 2022

my questions are;
1-Some people say that visitor visa gets canceled if you did not enter Canada in the first 6 months? Is that correct or she can enter?
2-Her passport/visa expire on December 23, 2022. Can she enter or there is certain requirements for the passport or visa validity ?

thanks a lot

1. That’s incorrect her TRV is still valid as long as she has not surpassed the expiry date for her specific TRV.
2. Yes she can enter but it would be much better for her to renew her passport before coming to Canada. Her stay will likely be limited by the expiry date of her passport. how long does she want to stay in Canada and when does her TRV expire?

A few weeks
Not exceeding the expiry but concerned about the immigration officer if he will let her enter

There are no rules that she needs 6 months left on her passport to enter Canada. There are never any guarantees when it comes to time allowed to remain in Canada. It is decided at the border but there are no rules saying that her passport expiry date will limit her visit for a few weeks in Canada. Passport is really a travel document to enter Canada.
