URGENT: Flagpoling with US Visa Application in progress

Hi,

I currently have a US visa application in progress and have interview on Monday in Calgary. As I will be driving down from Edmonton, can I flagpole on Sunday before the interview? Will this impact the US visa application.

Alternatively, do they keep my passport after US visa interview? cause if not I can go land on Monday after the interview. I don't want to have to drive all the way down south again from Edmonton so not sure what to do.

Others can comment and I maybe wrong but as far as I know once you have completed the US visa interview they keep your passport for processing and to put the visa into your passport before mailing or courier back to the address you supply. May not be same for all countries so others will comment here but obviously you posted the question so late cannot even contact the consulate to verify .
