I just got the confirmation online for extending my stay. It says it is approved and the message says :
Validity
and underneath that is says 2014/06/08

Does that mean it is only valid until June 8th?! I made it clear to them that that was the date I am suppose to leave and of course I want to extend it past that date.... giving me only until the date I was already meant to leave on makes NO sense...
Oh my gosh I'm freaking out :(
I even submitted a Letter of Explanation saying I'd like to stay to finish up the PR application and submit by June and stay with my husband while we wait for the application to be approved.

Can anyone help???

Any reason you told them you were supposed to leave on that date or that you will submit the application by June? Perhaps, the officer then saw fit to give you till June anyway. It is usually better to keep your request strictly to what you want and why, without the extra details.

They can give you a shorter time or more. Are you able to email and ask for clarification? Or call the CIC help center?

You start way too many threads. Try to ask questions in threads you already started.

Well, I just gave the information asked for. When my current stay is up.. and that would be June 8th.
I then told them I would like to stay to submit my app for permanent residence and to wait out the application process. Which is what a lot of people said they did as well and they got 6 months- a year.
I am so bummed if I screwed this up. :(
I will try to email. I guess I can call them tomorrow???

That would be an issue if she was posting the same thread multiple times but the subjects of her threads are unrelated. Unlike the other user that is currently spamming the forum, they should be banned.

Thank you. I chose to ignore him. I really try to refrain posting redundant topics.
I post a new topic if I need specific advice.
Most of my threads that I keep up to date on (that I started), consists are people who are new to this and so they may not have the answers for me and a veteran may never see a reply I post in some unrelated topic.

anyways...

Maybe it reads August 6th
That would be amazing. It says 2014/06/08
For Canada that means June, right???
I know in the US we write dates as: MONTH/DAY/YEAR
So idk, I get confused sometimes in Canada with dates but I know they usually write them as: DAY/MONTH/YEAR

Once you get the document itself, look at the format of the date of issue and it should clarify the format of the validity date.

Still that would mean 3 months(if August 6th), well short of how much time you had requested, right?

Well, the only problem is... if the date is indeed June 8th.. I have to book a flight soon.
And I have no idea how long it will take for the document to arrive.

We basically wasted $100 for them to tell me to leave on the date I was already meant to leave on. They could have at least given me an extra month or something!

Can you call them up tomorrow? Last business day of the week. Clarify the date.

I'm not sure what number to call though? I clicked the contact us link and it said only contact if you have an application submitted (meaning a PR app). So Idk what number I call to ask about this specifically?

I applied online...

I think once you get the document, only then you can tell when it expires. Maybe they meant it comes into force from that date since your recent document runs out on that day. I would suggest not to panic and wait for the document :) good luck!

That was my first thought.
I'm mostly panicking because I have no idea how long it will take for the document to get here.
And say it takes 2 weeks? Then I have to book a flight for like the next day basically???
Or submit another request for extension.
:/
It'd be nice to hear from someone who applied online as well and what the validity date actually means. The date I need to leave on or the date it starts on...?
