Thanks for all the kind words and advice.
Just to give you a bit of an update: I took my flight to Canada as with only 1 day to go I wouldn't have been able to change or get a refund on the flight. I also found out about the 'flagpole procedure' so am going courier my passport back to the UK to my parents who will post it down to London for the stamp, once they get it back and courier it back to Canada I will then head over to Niagara probably to Fort Erie where I will then 'land' as a PR.
There was no problem at all getting through customs, took 60 seconds at most. He just asked what the purpose of my visit was, how long I was staying for, where I would be staying, if I had met my girlfriend in person before, and what I did for a living. Then he just said welcome to Canada.
London has processed my application in around 6 weeks which is well before I was expecting it. So all being well it should only take a few weeks and then I will be a PR of Canada! If anyone else is in the process of doing this just hang in there and good luck!
Thank you to everyone that has answered my many questions along the way,
Michael
