Upfront medical, further tests required - when should it get done?

Outland common law partner sponsorship.

Did upfront medical already (application sent 2 weeks ago) and requested by the doctor (saying by request of Canadian Embassy) to have biopsy done on a bigger than normal thyroid gland. All other tests (HIV, HEP B, TB, etc) are clear.

My questions is: since upfront medical is already done and it will be months before the medical file will be looks at, should I wait a bit to have the biopsy done? It's expensive and invasive and I don't want the test results to expire in case my application takes longer than 12 months to complete and re-medical is needed.

If waiting is preferred, how long (until SA/AOR2 is received)? Doctor told me it takes 2 weeks to have the report sent to the system after the biopsy date.

Get it done soon. The medical won't be considered 'done' until all the tests the doctor says you have to have are done.

Completed upfront medical test is expected as part of an outland PR application. It can be returned as "incomplete" if it doesn't have medical test done. You need to get it done asap to avoid possible delay or worst, returned application.

Just out of curiosity, when it's known that spouses are excess demand exempt, why would CIC still wants further tests done on anything else (e.g. in my case, want the doctor to write a report on the nature of the thyroid condition) when the HIV, TB, etc hazardous to the public diseases are all tested negative already?

These tests are really expensive!

Since you only sent your app in a few weeks ago, the visa officer will not even have looked at the medical results yet. That comes during applicant processing at the outland visa office, so several months after submitting the app.

All the medicals go initially to a Regional Medical Office, where CIC doctors review the results and make them available to the visa officer when they need it. So if the RMO is asking for these additional tests, they may not even be aware that it's for a spousal app. They may simply get the medical results, and follow up accordingly if they want more info based on standard medical process for any immigration stream.

It does sound a little suspicious that they are asking for follow up tests so quickly, and that the doctor said the "Canadian Embassy" is asking for them when it should be the RMO asking for it. Does the doctor profit in any way from the tests or will you get it done at some other random location of your choosing? It's probably legit, but I have heard stories of doctors demanding additional tests on their own without actually getting the request from CIC.

Thank you! That's exactly what I'm suspecting, that the doctor is profiting from unnecessary tests. The case was referred out by the panel physician to another "independent" doctor. That doctor doesn't seem to know much about medical exam standards for visa/PR applications. I totally understand should there be red flags showing the thyroid condition is more serious in initial test results, I would probably want to test further for my own sake, but it's not the case! Ultrasound/bloodtest is not even done and showing any signs or seriousness to call for a biopsy! Money is one thing, but what bugs me is that biopsy is an invasive medical procedure!

However, I guess there is no choice here, does it? I feel so annoyed!
