Updating the offer letter

Hi everyone
I applied study permit for May 2015 intake and the processing time for the study visa has been extended and my course already started. I havent received any update from cic yet. I contacted the college and got the offer letter for the september 2015 intake. My question is should i inform cic about the update or wait until cic makes a decision about the May intake and then reapply for the september intake if the visa gets refused. Please let me know my options.

CIC is processing your application and you postponed your course without even informing them? Are you insane? Contact CIC at the earliest

Oh i thought since one month has already passed since the course started , cic would automaticaly refuse my visa. So i got a different offer letter.
Ok i will call cic. Thank you for your time
