Hello everyone,

I recently submitted my application to sponsor my spouse at the beginning of January. I just checked the CIC website and it shows updated wait times as of January 25th! Now, it claims it will take 74 days in Mississauga and 6 months in Delhi!!! Does this apply to applications submitted prior to the update? I haven't received a confirmation letter from Mississauga as of yet and this is making me freak out!

What is the protocol in this case in terms of files being submitted prior to the updated wait times? This is probably the worst news I've heard since the beginning of the year.

Help!

KS

Unfortunately you should assume the new processing times apply to your file. Submitting your application by a specific date does not lock in a specific processing time. The processing times you see for Mississauga are adjusted to reflect the current volumes of applications received and the speed at which they are being processed. Your application is part of that volume (sorry!).

Yes the wait times for Mississauga are always changing, depending on the volume of applications they receive. I applied June 20th, 2011 and didn't get approved from Mississauga offices until August 18th, 2011. Now it seems it is taking a bit longer. After that, yes there is another long wait when your file gets sent to Delhi. Our application was sent right away to the Delhi offices (but there was a bit longer of a wait b/c my husband was out of the country and could not submit his passports until he returned to India in mid October). My husband's application started processing October 18th, 2011 and now....we are sill waiting for any type of change in status other than 'In Process'!!!

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to wait...

We sent in our file at the end of December 2011 and we just recently got an e-mail saying they received our file December 30, 2011. Today, we got another e-mail saying that our file was sent to New Delhi so its been 48 days which is less than what the website says. We'll have to wait and see when they ask for my husband's passport but I willl keep posting our updates too. What date did they ask for your husband's passport?
