Hi there,

Just sent our spousal application in but I'm worried about the possibility of having it returned because of outdated forms. I made sure all forms were the latest available, but surely by the time they open the file some of them will be outdated? That's considering that it takes them 10 bloody months to start working on the application.

Does anyone know how CIC goes about deeming a form out of date?

Cheers.

As long as you sent the latest version of all forms, you'll be fine.

Someone at CIC will open up your application package and do a very quick check to ensure that all required forms have been included and that they are in fact the latest versions. This is what generates your AOR (Acknowledgment Of Receipt), which happens a lot sooner than 10 months!

Thank you Ponga. So what is the 10-11 month waiting time listed on their website then? Sponsorship approval?

It's more than sponsorship approval.

For an Inland applicant to receive AIP (Approval In Principle), it is a combination of sponsor approval AND assessment of the relationship that the applicant has with the sponsor.

For an Outland applicant, sponsorship approval (SA) is nothing more than that...approval of the sponsor, which takes ~ 1 month.

Uh oh!! We definitely sent in some outdated forms! I think both our IMM0008 and the IMM1344 are the older version. Is there any way to get the updated forms to them before our application gets sent back?

Do you have a UCI number from a previous application to Canada? Whether it be visitor visa or anything else? (Your UCI number is always the same). If you don't have a UCI number then no, you won't be able to send updated forms because your application is sitting in a pile somewhere waiting to be assessed for sponsor approval, so there won't be any way to match the forms with your package until they open it and apply a UCI number to the sponsor.

I don't have a UCI number, but my husband (who I'm sponsoring) does. Hopefully that will work
