Dears,
I came to know that, this time, CIO will match the experience with Qualification, if it does not match they will reject the file. That is one of the major reasons they are asking for ECA, and another important point is along with ECA report CIC is also asking for all degree certifucate and mark sheets. If they have designated bodies for ECA and they are getting ECA report why they are asking certificates again dont they believer in those authorized bodies (WES etc).

Please don't spread wrong information.

There is nothing like "CIO will match the experience with Qualification,if it does not match they will reject the file. ".

This is applicable only for Qubec migration as far as i know.

But they haven't mention that the qualification should fall under that mentioned in NOC , to earn points.

So how can they reject the file?

This is entirely a new idea for me , can you please give the source where it mentioned that people can apply only if their occupation and education are related?

Or, anywhere mentioned that if their occupation and education are not related , they will reject the file?

Hi,

This is what i got from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp:

If you have specified an occupation on your application that requires provincial/territorial licensing, and CIC has designated a professional body for that occupation, you must provide an original ECA report issued by the designated professional body indicating that your completed foreign educational credential is equivalent to the Canadian educational credential required to practice that occupation in one or more provinces or territories in Canada.

Note: You will be awarded points for your highest completed credential(s). If you have specified an occupation in your application that requires an ECA report from a designated professional body, but you have also completed a foreign educational credential at a higher level that is not related to your intended occupation, you will need to have the additional credential assessed by one of the “multi-purpose” organizations designated by CIC. Both original ECA reports must be included with your application in order to receive maximum education points.

Therefore, iam not at all convinced that if the occupation and experience are not related, they will reject the file , unless it's a regulated occupation.

But in case of regulated occupation and unrelated education , please read the sentence above , given in bold.

Here also, they have not stated that your file will be rejected. So iam not sure about the source of other thoughts... :)

Rajeev, don't reach direct conclusion to rejection and points assessment.

Pls refer CIC website and check any NOC, they will mention education requirements after job roles.

Many people have still applied even though education is different. If u take a chance and u succeed, u r lucky.

However , its not recommended to conclude that if the occupation and education is not related, the file will be rejected... :)

Yes I guess its open to one's interpretation. The NOC page states that in order to get employment in Canada in your NOC (giving example of 1112):

Employment requirements

A bachelor's degree in commerce, business administration or economics
and
On-the-job training and industry courses and programs are usually required.
A master's degree in business administration (MBA) (concentration in finance) or in finance may be required.
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, available through a program conducted by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts in the United States, may be required by some employers.

Now if CIC matches our education and experience as per this page, who knows.

Download the pdf operation manual and check page 12 of 41
Browse opo6c-eng.pdf
It states the below
NOTE: The "employment reguirements" listed in the NOC description for each occupation are not applicable

I think largely it has to match this time, but saying it will be a rejection otherwise is not correct. Still there are certain NOC in the current list for which the above rule doesn't apply in totality. Like for performing an engineering managers responsibilities, you may not need the relevant engineering degree I guess.
