Unpaid credit card and effect on immigration

Hi. I came to Canada in 2010 at Student Visa. At that time i had credit limit of 1000 dollars. But because of some medical emergency at home i had to leave Canada without paying my credit limit and unfortunately i could not come back. Now i am planning to immigrate to Canada. I want to ask will it effect my prospects in Canadaian immigration and further banking services in Canada even if i will clear my debts

Unlikely to have any effect I guess unless you have some warrant outstanding which probably unlikely for just 1000 dollars. Might affect your credit record so probably worth trying to find out if the debt has been written off or is still open somewhere against your credit record.

i've actually heard somewhere that if 7 years are spent since that incident they write off the debt? any idea thats true ?

No idea but the OP could help themselves by checking if the debt is still open or even checking whether they have anything negative on their credit record assuming they have one. Doubt it affects immigration chances though unless courts involved which I guess unlikely for the amount.

Defaulting with credit card payment is a civil offence, not a criminal once. It won't impact your immigration application. However, if it's still on your credit report, then you would have difficulty getting a credit card or a loan from a bank or any other lender. However, you will not have any issues opening a simple chequing account for day to day banking.
And yes, adverse records are dropped from your credit report after 7 years of default/last activity. Why don't you buy a credit report from Equifax and be certain for yourself

Hello,

Last year I lost my job and I couldn't pay my auto insurance and it got canceled due to non payment. I recently applied my citizenship in September. My auto insurance went to collection agency and returned back to the insurance provider as I couldn't pay my bill.
I am worried if this is going to have any impact on my citizenship application now or in ant future. I will make an arrangement for payment by calling them. But I am worried if my long delinquency in payment is going to put me in a fraud or some charges against me in future which will affect my citizenship. Thanks.
