Hi,

I have a friend who is going to do Masters in Nova Scotia. Her degree says 2 years but she is intending to finish it in 16 months. Her question is, will she get a work permit for 3 years or for 2 years (considering she will complete it sooner?)

Also, she will obtain a Masters in Science. What are her chances of obtaining a PR in Halifax?

Thanks,

If the official letter says it is a 2 year course...that is what the CIC look at. The question is why is she intending to complete it 4 months early?

I dont know...may be less fees and may be to find a job quicker and be out of school soon? If she does, will she get a lesser work permit?

if the official letter from the University issued at the time of graduation says 2 years, she will qualify for a 3 year PGWP. It depends what this letter says. Please note she may not get this letter from the University until the official end of the course, not when she finishes (depends on the University). This may cause an issue if she doesn't get it, as you have to apply for the PGWP within 90 days of your studying ending.
