I’m getting an opportunity to do an exchange student semester in University of Toronto. I would like to know what way I can extend my stay there after completing the semester and will I be eligible to do part time job? Can I switch to job visa after the semester?

Exchange students are not allowed to work in Canada.

If you want to work in Canada, you would need to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a full time job and that employer would then need to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can apply for apply for a closed work permit. Generally speaking, it's extremely difficult to find employers willing to go through the LMIA process.

You'll need to get admitted into a program that is full time and at least eight months in length. That program will need to make sense in light of your previous education and any work experience. You'll also have to show that you have enough funds to pay for your continued studies in Canada - so that will mean showing a bank balance of at least $25K. Also, you'll want to make sure you've completed your previous program. If you apply for a study permit in Canada without having completed your previous studies, the Canadian study permit will have a high chance of refusal since you won't look like a genuine student (you'll look like someone who is trying to remain in Canada long term).
