Hey All,
I have a question regarding getting my actual, physical student visa stamp in my passport and how I should go about it.
My Student Visa application was approved by the CIC for my Master's degree program that starts in September. I am American and crossed the boarder in early June (via land/car) to begin moving some of my stuff up to where I will be staying in Nova Scotia for my Master's program. When I crossed in June, the customs official said that there is no issue with my application, but that they would not yet be administering my Student Visa stamp because my program does not begin for several more months. Instead, they just gave me a regular 'visitors stamp' I have status until then.
My question is, how do I now go about getting my actual student visa stamp? The customs official told me it would be appropriate to receive it in early August, but will I now have to drive ALL the way back down to the boarder just to cross and come right back for a stamp? Or could I call the local CIC office in Halifax and see if they can process it/give me my stamp there?
Any insight on the situation would be appreciated!
